著者プロフィール

浅生鴨（あそうかも）

1971年、神戸市生まれ。たいていのことは苦手。2013年に『群像』（講談社）で発表した初の短編小説『エビくん』が高い評価を受けたことで、本格的に執筆を開始。主な著書に、『中の人などいない』『アグニオン』『二・二六』（新潮社）、『猫たちの色メガネ』（KADOKAWA）、『どこでもない場所』（左右社）、『だから僕は、ググらない』（大和出版）、『雑文御免』『うっかり失敬』（ネコノス）、自身が編集長を努める同人誌『異人と同人』『雨は五分後にやんで』などがある。テレビドラマ化もされた『伴走者』（講談社）は第35回織田作之助賞候補となった。座右の銘は「棚からぼた餅」。

Originally published as a column series on the monthly fashion magazine GINZA (Magazinehouse). Azarashi no hito (The Seal Man) shows the author’s talent is always finding humour among ordinary people’s slightly extra-ordinary behaviour, which could be regarded as just weird otherwise. These people include a random stranger who lends hands at a nearby bicycle shop although he was never asked to do so, someone who likes to be logical in everything or an office worker who suddenly “disappears” from zoom call just like Ninja. They are often considered awkward or difficult or not smart enough to adapt to new working styles. But the author wonders, don’t they also play important roles in our everyday lives if you just try to look at them from a different perspective? And he introduces his views. The drawing of the seal on the cover is by the author.
